Dumb Machines

A Machine is something which performs some function, for example, a zipper is a machine which links and separate two strings of a zip. Similarly, an electric motor is a machine which basically converts flow of electrons into a magnetic field which may be used to perform rotary motion.

We are surrounded in machines, some a basic machines and some are more complex machines. Glasses which are resting on your nose and clung to your ears is a simple machine which makes you able to focus on things and mobile phone in your pocket is a complex machine which brings the world to you.

Basically, all the machines work similarly and that is they receive input; they process on it; they give an output.

For the same reason machine require three kind of units

  • Input Unit
  • Processing Unit
  • Output Unit

In our electric motor, input is electricity and output is magnetic field and processing is passage of electrons through the winding. Though this has nothing to do with our current discussion yet if we invert the input and output Units the same electric motor may work as generator. 

Today, we call simple machines as dumb machines as these machines do what these are supposed to do and there in another category of machines that is termed as Intelligent machines, I wonder why we call those machines as intelligent machines as those machines also do what those are supposed to do! but those who termed those machines as intelligent machines think these machines are capable of doing some extraordinary jobs that dumb machines are unable to do. For example, a face recognition machine can recognize many faces, so they think it is doing exceptional job as it is recognizing various faces means more than one faces that is why it is an intelligent machine. Yet in my opinion if intelligence means what it means then this machine is only performing the task so assigned to it. It is working on the lines, curves, color, structure of different features of faces and matching the same with those in its memory. This is not an intelligent work yet an exhaustive laborious job. Hence the result is "we are surrounded by Dumb Machines".

Interconnected Machines

Human beings are intelligent machines, they fuel themselves, they repair themselves and they continue the job they are assigned. You believe it or not, all human beings are interconnected. They are not aware of this phenomenon yet some of them experience it during their lifespans. Human beings though think they are working for themselves according to their own needs yet they are not and one or the other way they are working for the whole on the bases of the interconnections. Human Being - A Machine

If I tell you today that human beings are nothing but a machine, many will not bother about it and will node their heads up and down to accept it; some though may exist who will say "no, human beings are living beings and are not machines". Today, we will try to teach those who are in denial because of this o that.
